Arch FAQ
Milky or cloudy water:
  • The pH is incorrect: readjust the pH to between 7.0 and 7.4. Deliver a shock treatment.
  • The chlorine level is too low: deliver a shock treatment, add flocculant, wash the filter several times and run the filter for 24 hours.
  • Insufficient filtration: increase the filtering time.
  • Overstabilization: check the stabilizer level. (100 to 150 ppm: empty the pool by 1/3; ≥ 150 ppm: empty the pool by 1/2.) Use unstabilized chlorine.
Green water:
  • Formation of algae: deliver a shock chlorination, wash and rinse the filter, put one or more flocculant cartridges in the skimmer and use a concentrated anti-algae product.
  • Overstabilization: check the stabilizer level. (100 to 150 ppm: empty the pool by 1/3; ≥ 150 ppm: empty the pool by 1/2.) Use unstabilized chlorine.
Brown, reddish or black water:
  • Presence of iron ore manganese: readjust the pH and use a metal sequestering agent. If necessary, add a liquid flocculant, switch the filter off for 12 hours and then vacuum up the deposits, disposing of them in the drain.
Translucent green water:
  • Presence of copper: check the TAS (the ideal value is 80 to 120 mg/l, 8 to 12 °f) and use a metal sequestering agent. If necessary, add a liquid flocculant, switch the filter off for 12 hours and then vacuum up the deposits, disposing of them in the drain.
Irritation to the eyes and skin / smell of chlorine:
  • The chlorine level is too low, presence of chloramines: deliver a shock chlorination.
  • The pH is incorrect: readjust the pH to between 7.0 and 7.4.
Difficulty maintaining the chlorine level or incorrect pH:
  • Insufficient chlorination: due to high bather load: deliver a shock chlorination and readjust the pH to between 7.0 and 7.4.
The pH is too high:
  • Water's alkalinity is too high: add pH Minus.
  • Basicity is too high: check the pH frequently, add pH Minus.
The pH is too low:
  • Water's alkalinity is too low: use an alkalinity corrector
  • Acidity is too high: check the pH frequently, add pH Plus.
Abnormally high pressure on the filter manometer:
  • The filter is clogged: wash the filter. If the high pressure persists, unclog the filter using a filter descaler and cleaner.
Calcium deposits:
  • The pH is incorrect: readjust the pH to between 7.0 and 7.4.
  • High water hardness: add an anti-calcium product weekly.
