Arch What to do to prepare your pool for the first time
? For the first use, several steps need to be followed (see thereafter):
forme piscine Fill the swimming pool:

Start doing this sufficiently far in advance as filling your pool can take a very long time depending on the water flow rate and the volume of the swimming pool.

The best water for filling your swimming pool is mains water. Mains water is already treated and has already had its pH corrected. You will however still need to check the TA, in other words the alkalinity of the water. Be careful if you are using well water. Generally, well water contains very unstable levels and does not go well with the chemicals used for disinfection such as chlorine. You must also take into account other aspects such as the (calcium) hardness of the water and the pH.
For example, well water that is too rich in iron may react with the chlorine and change colour on contact.
Before filling your swimming pool, ask your swimming pool retailer for advice. He will tell you if you can use the water from your well to fill your swimming pool.
In tap water, in theory you have the "right" water which meets the requirements for a swimming pool. The only point requiring attention in that case will be TA.
forme piscine Analyse water:

And adjust the pH if necessary
forme piscine Add disinfectant:

Use shock chlorine (fast-acting). Leave it to work for 12 hours with the filter running.
